Born in Highland, Illinois on November
18, 1943, Dona Abbott moved with her husband and small son
to Boulder, Colorado in 1965. While still raising a family,
she graduated summa cum laude from CU in 1972. Well
known for her work in watercolor, Dona was a longstanding
member of Boulder's Mustard Seed Gallery and an active
participant in Open Studios. Her work was regularly featured
in national art shows, including Rocky Mountain National and
Arts for the Parks, and in national and international art
publications. Dona also authored two art books,
Watercolor Filled With Bright Colors and
Captured Moments.
Dona's valiant five-year struggle with
ovarian cancer ended on March 2, 2007. Dona will be sorely
missed, but her love of life and her strong spirit will live
on in all who had the opportunity to know her and in her
art.
